We all know that Hugh Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine is coming to an end soon. After all, Logan is immortal, but Jackman is not and he’s starting to show the mileage. So it makes sense that Hugh would want to take his time with Wolverine 3, to make sure his final take on the character is his best effort. Good thing too, because we all don’t want another X-Men Origins: Wolverine on our hands! While talking with Collider, at Sundance, Hugh gave an update on the status of Wolverine 3.
We have a script. A full script. To tell you, two days ago I got that the full finished—well, it’s not finished, but we’re getting super close—as you can see by the rate of my facial hair. That might give you a good clue that perhaps…yeah, it’s sooner rather than later.
His enthusiasm is a good sign, but when pressed for more information regarding a shoot date, he had this to say….
I don’t have a firm date yet. My thing and I’ve told you and I’ve told everyone, it’s my last one, for me I want it to be perfect, so the moment I know it’s perfect, bang, we’ll go.
So it’s great to hear that the script is nearly finished and he does seem pretty excited about it. As to how this all fits into the new X-Men Apocalypse movie, remains a mystery. We have yet to hear any acknowledgment that Hugh is in Bryan Singers new film, which would feel fairly odd, since he is the actor most associated with the franchise. Sadly, we do need to prepare for his eventual departure, so perhaps his absence in X-Men Apocalypse is for good reason. Are you ready for Jackman to retire the claws?
More on this as it develops…
